Who should be held responsible when an AI diagnostic tool makes a mistake; is it the doctor who signed off on the diagnosis, is it the developer of the AI system, is it the hospital? Different jurisdictions are grappling with these questions and legal frameworks are yet to pronounce themselves on these issues as the debate rages on.

What is undeniable is that AI provides huge benefits like speed and scale, with the potential to cut healthcare costs in cases where medical professionals are in short supply.
